Salalah Port Resumes Operations

Salalah Port Resumes Operations

The Port of Salalah announced the resumption of operations at its cargo terminal after the cyclone Mekunu. On 25th May the port was closed because of flood caused by the cyclone. All communication systems, including internet connections, were shut down. The port authorities have declared Force Majeure.

It should be noted that Salalah is located on the East-West trade lane between Europe and Asia.
Maersk Line, one of the Port of Salalah’s biggest customer, has created a webpage to provide customers with up-to-date information about contingency and service disruption. As at 7th June, terminal continues to operate on one berth.

It should be reminded that a week earlier,  the cyclone of the 2nd category "Mekunu" struck the south of the Arabian Peninsula. Operations in the nearby petrochemical plants, uncluding PET producer OŠ”TAL Petrochemical, were suspended.
